Wacton Village Hall in South Norfolk– History

The old hall was built during the 1950s but the passage of time and lack of planned maintenance meant that by the early 1990s extensive refurbishment or closure were the only choices. As the facilities were primitive by current standards and the dilapidations so advanced, there was clearly little hope that it could be salvaged. Thoughts instead turned to replacement. A design was produced which gained planning approval in 2004 and within 3 years sufficient funding had been raised to start work on phase one, the service block. The main hall followed and the completed building was opened in 2013. The hall is now earning its keep and a maintenance fund is in place to ensure it doesn't suffer the neglect of its predecessor.
